Ferncliff is a wonderfully unique example of early efforts to preserve the landscape of the Hudson Valley. The hike offers a rare look at groves of old growth trees. On our journey, we will take a leisurely route to the fire tower. The tower rewards us with an unrivaled view of the eastern ridge of the Catskill Escarpment.
The route we will travel is roughly 1.9 miles, and crosses easy terrain, with two moderate inclines along the trail. The trip will take approximately 3 hours. This will allow us time to photograph the views from the tower, and enjoy a snack as well.
Trail sneakers or hiking boots are recommended. All participants are asked to bring 1 litre of water.
